4.      Jed sells desserts for \$24 each. Each dessert costs \$12.80 to make.

a)   Work out his percentage profit.

Given CP =\$12.80;  SP = \$24

Profit = SP – CP

Profit = \$24 – \$12.80

Profit = \$ 11.20

Profit % = (profit/CP) × 100

Profit % = (11.20/12.80) × 100%

Profit % = 87.5%

b)   The cost to make each dessert increases to \$13.60. Jed wants to make the same percentage profit. Work out the new selling price.

87.5 % = (profit/CP) × 100%

87.5 % = (profit/\$13.60) × 100%

Profit = (87.5 × \$13.60)/100

Profit = \$11,9

\$11,9  = SP – \$13.60

SP = \$25.5
